Amy Malone will be the first principal of Legend Point Elementary, one of New Braunfels ISD’s newest elementary schools, set to open in August.

How we got here?

Malone’s role comes amid a period of rapid growth for New Braunfels ISD, as the district continues to add new schools to meet the needs of its expanding student population, previously reported by Community Impact.

In May, the district broke ground on its 11th elementary school in the Veramendi neighborhood, funded through the 2021 bond program, according to previous reporting.

Malone is currently the director of curriculum and instruction for grades K-5 in Comal ISD, according to a Nov. 1 news release from NBISD.

With 27 years in education, her career includes positions such as:
  • Director of elementary education
  • Principal of Rahe Bulverde Elementary in Comal ISD
“[Malone’s] vision and experience make her an outstanding choice to lead Legend Point Elementary,” NBISD Superintendent Laurelyn Arterbury said in the statement. “Her leadership will shape a vibrant learning community focused on academic excellence.”

What’s next?

Malone will start in January, working with NBISD to prepare for the school’s launch in the upcoming school year, according to the news release.
