While its stadium undergoes construction, Long Creek High School's football games will temporarily be played at New Braunfels High School’s Unicorn Stadium.

The details

The Long Creek High School stadium is set to be complete in 2026, according to a June 17 news release from New Braunfels ISD.

In May, a $40 million stadium at Long Creek High School was approved as part of a $313 million bond program.

Long Creek High School’s home games for football will be played at Unicorn Stadium on either Thursday or Friday nights, according to the release.

Practice arrangements for Long Creek High School teams will include using facilities at New Braunfels Middle School and potentially other venues as needed, as mentioned in the release.

“We want what’s best for our kids,” said Adam Harvey, Long Creek High School boys athletic coordinator. “We believe giving our athletes and fans the full Friday night lights experience at Unicorn Stadium while Dragon Stadium is being constructed is what’s best.”

In other news

The NBISD board of trustees approved the replacement of artificial turf at Unicorn Stadium using funds from the 2024 bond program at its June 17 school board meeting.

The turf has been in place for eight years and is nearing the end of its safe usability for student activities, such as football, soccer and track, NBISD Athletic Director Richard Mendoza said.

The replacement is scheduled for this summer to ensure readiness for the upcoming school year's football, soccer and track seasons, Mendoza said.
