Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union, or RBFCU, is celebrating its 50-year anniversary in New Braunfels in July.

RBFCU is a full-service financial cooperative with 62 branches throughout Texas, according to an email from Marketing Communications Senior Specialist Victoria Young.

Some history

The Central Texas-based credit union opened its New Braunfels branch in 1975. However, RBFCU began in September 1952 when it was established as Randolph Federal Credit Union. The credit union opened with nine members and $45 in deposits at Randolph Air Force Base. It officially became RBFCU in October 1961, the email states.

RBFCU merged with Comal Federal Credit Union in July 1975—establishing the New Braunfels Branch in Landa Plaza and marking the credit union's first major expansion outside its original location. The expansion signified RBFCU’s growth and commitment to extending financial services to the community, the email states.

Notable quote

RBFCU President and CEO Mark Sekula said the credit union’s continued expansion is driven by diverse teams who understand and respond to the evolving needs of both the state’s economy and its members.

“Each day brings new growth and opportunity across Texas with no signs of slowing. We remain steadfast to our longstanding mission and core values to meet our commitment to our members,” Sekula said in the email.
