1. Plans filed for proposed gas station, retail center near Hutto-Georgetown-Round Rock border
A new project filing shows a 5,000-square-foot retail building is proposed for a site near the intersection of University Boulevard and CR 110, at the intersection of city limits for Hutto, Georgetown and Round Rock.
2. Developer of The Domain partners with legacy family on 1,200-acres
The group known for spearheading The Domain has partnered with Robinson Family Management to develop more than 1,200 acres in North Austin.
The Robinson family and Endeavor Real Estate Group announced June 24 a partnership to develop two portions of the 6,400-acre ranch that spreads from North Austin and into Round Rock.
3. Dirty soda drink shop to open in San Marcos
A dirty soda shop bringing a wide selection of drinks to customers in San Marcos will soon open its first location in the city.
Swig, a drink shop with over 150 locations across the country, will bring its signature dirty sodas to San Marcos along I-35. An official date for the spot’s opening has not yet been set.
4. Lagoon-anchored Leander Springs development advances to Leander City Council
For the second time in just over a month, the Leander Planning and Zoning Commission voted to amend the Leander Springs planned unit development, voting 5-1 on June 25 to allow the project to move forward with fewer apartments and changes to the project's phasing.
“We believe that this will compete with the Kalahris of the world, that it will be a destination and the economic impact for the city is tremendous,” former Leander Mayor Troy Hill said.
5. Hopdoddy Burger Bar acquired by New York-based restaurant group
Austin-based restaurant Hopdoddy Burger Bar has been acquired by Founders Table Restaurant Group.
Hopdoddy CEO Jeff Chandler will transition to an advisory role. Hopdoddy Vice President of Operations Kenny Jett will assume the role of president.
"I've had the privilege of seeing firsthand what makes this brand so special—from our incredible team members to the loyal guests who support us every day," Jett said in a news release. "I'm honored to step into this role and excited to build on the strong foundation we've created as we continue growing the brand."

6. Closer to care: Bastrop explores path to full-service hospital
For years, Bastrop residents have left the area for specialty and inpatient care. Now, city leaders are studying whether a full-service, acute care hospital could work closer to home.
In April, Bastrop City Council advanced a second round of analysis after reviewing a feasibility study by health care consulting firm Pershing Yoakley & Associates.
