Covey received 67.7 percent, or 39,870 votes, of the 58,894 total votes. Her competitor, Anthony Rector received 32.3 percent, or 19,024 votes.

Updated 9:07 p.m. Valerie Covey continues to lead the Williamson County Commissioners Court Precinct 3 election race but has fallen short of declaring victory so far. "I appreciate all the support I have received as county commissioner here," she said. "I am honored to serve you, and we are going to continue to well in Williamson County because we have great people serving here as well as people supporting us." She did recognize former Precinct 4 Commissioner Ron Morrison, who died in September while serving in office. "We miss him, and we recognize all his efforts and projects," Covey said. "We are still missing him."

Covey comments on early lead for Williamson County Commissioners Court Precinct 3

Updated 8:05 p.m. Williamson County Precinct 3 Commissioner commented about her early voting lead during an election night watch party hosted by the Williamson County Republican Party. "I feel good about my race, but I am keeping my eye on some others," Covey said, referring to the slew of Election Day results yet to be tabulated. In particular, she may be watching the other Williamson County Commissioners Court race for Precinct 1 between Republican candidate Landy Warren and Democratic candidate Terry Cook.

Updated 7:03 p.m. Early voting results are in for the Precinct 3 Williamson County Commissioners Court race. Out of 48,176 votes, Valerie Covey leads 32,595 votes or 67.66 percent to Anthony Rector's 15,581, or 32.34 percent.

Posted 2:58 p.m. The Williamson County Republican Party and all local Williamson County Republicans appearing on the November ballot will gather at the Williamson Conference Center at the Wingate Hotel in Round Rock Tuesday evening to monitor election results, according to the Williamson County GOP. The press release also said current Williamson County Precinct 3 Commissioner Valerie Covey will be in attendance. The Williamson County Democratic Party will also hold an election night watch party at Verde’s Parrilla & Tequileria in Round Rock Tuesday evening to watch national and local election results, according to the party’s website. As of Tuesday afternoon, Williamson County Precinct 3 Commissioner Democratic candidate Anthony Rector had not responded to Community Impact about his election night plans. Covey is running for re-election for a third time this year for Precinct 3. Covey was first elected to the seat in 2006 to fill an unexpired term. Her challenger, Rector is a victim services coordinator with the Georgetown Police Department. In a Q&A with Community Impact Newspaper, Rector said his first order of business as commissioner would be to work for living wages for the employees of Williamson County, add more services for veterans, and better the working relationship with the local government. If re-elected, Covey said her first order of business would be to continue to address the county’s growth by working on road bond projects that are currently in progress, such as intersection improvements at D.B. Wood and Hwy. 29, bridge improvements at Ronald Reagan/I-35 and CR 305/I-35 and the widening of Inner Loop from Churchill Farms to Maple Street.
