The numbers show Cook leading the way with 17,650 votes, or 51.5 percent of the vote, and Republican Landy Warren following with 16,645 votes, or 48.5 percent of the vote.

Cook owns a small business and has worked in research and technology industries for 23 years. Warren, a community banker with more than 34 years of experience, has served on 15 boards, commissions and committees in the area.
In a Q&A with Community Impact Newspaper, Warren said the Commissioners Court must manage the growth that the county is facing by implementing infrastructure, supporting education at all levels and focusing on economic development to continue recruiting great jobs and benefits to the area.
Cook said the court has failed to be responsive to the increasing diversity of the county’s growing population, and said she will focus on reducing the tax burden on individual property owners.
