Interested in roadwork and sidewalk updates in the Allen area? Here are updates on several construction projects in the city of Allen. This list is not comprehensive.
Ongoing projects
1. Highway Safety Improvement Program updates
Project: Updates include modernized traffic signals, upgraded equipment, increased capacity and enhanced pedestrian features.
Update: Signal upgrades at the intersections of Bethany Drive and Century Parkway as well as Bethany Drive and Greenville Avenue have been completed, and crews are now performing restoration work at both locations, Allen Communications Manager Kristi Soto said. At the intersection of Main Street and Greenville Avenue, the signal poles have been replaced and median improvements are underway on the west side of the intersection.
2. Greengate neighborhood sidewalk repairs
Project: The Greengate neighborhood area and adjacent roadways, including parts of Allen Heights Drive, will see upgrades to pedestrian facilities. Repairs include addressing broken sidewalk ramps, alley approaches and sidewalk panels.
Update: Contractors are currently working along Edelweiss Drive, Carnation Drive, Petunia Drive and Alder Drive, Soto said. The next phase will include work on the interior neighborhood streets, with Flameleaf Drive, Haven Place and Bluebonnet Drive scheduled to follow.
3. 2026 Street and Alley Rehabilitation project
Project: The project consists of reconstruction of existing deteriorated street and alley pavement identified in a city-wide pavement condition assessment survey completed in 2022.
Update: Crews are now working along Heritage Parkway from Park Place Drive to Bethany Drive, and on Bethany Drive from Allen Heights Drive to Greenville Avenue, Soto said. Work at both locations is expected to continue over the next month.
