The city of Plano is piloting night construction work with an arterial concrete project along Park Boulevard starting at the end of July.

The first phase of a $3.19 million project is expected to last until mid-September.
Drew Zaeske, the public works community investment program manager at Plano, said the first phase will involve replacing concrete pavement panels from Preston Road to Ohio Drive at night to avoid daytime roadway disruptions. Only the first phase of the project is planned for night work as of July.
Zaeske said the city considers the likelihood of heavy traffic and the road’s proximity to commercial areas before deciding if a project is viable for night construction.
“We make sure that they meet both criteria. Heavy traffic to make it worth doing the work at night and commercial areas so that construction noise isn’t disrupting our residents as they sleep,” he said.
The contractor for arterial concrete work along Park Boulevard is expected to switch to working regular daytime hours after September. The full project is estimated to last until summer 2027, Zaeske said.

Plano officials approved construction work for the project May 26. The full project spans from Preston Road to Independence Parkway.
The city is also working on concrete replacements along Coit Road from SH190 to Parker, per previous reporting. Zaeske previously said concrete repairs for Coit are mostly completed and overlay is planned for next summer.
