Land addition to provide more space at Plano’s Oak Point Park

Plano City Council approved the purchase of a new land parcel for Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve.

The land, which is located at 3321 E. Parker Road and was purchased for nearly $1.59 million, will replace park space that will soon be taken up by a new parks maintenance facility at the park.

The addition of new land will be the first since March 2015, according to a memo. The total cost for the project is estimated to be around $1.6 million, which includes transaction expenses for buying the land, the memo said.

During the Aug. 28 meeting, Parks and Recreation Director Ron Smith said the land acquisition was included in the most recent versions of the city’s Park Master Plan.

The purchased parcel has an area of 3.06 acres that will be added to Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve, one of two nature preserves in Plano.
