The city of Plano is implementing new artificial intelligence systems and regulations for its departments and a new "no parking zone" is now in effect in downtown Plano.
The two items were approved at a Plano City Council meeting Oct. 12.
In a nutshell
The city is implementing three new AI tools for meeting recaps, notes, administrative controls, a broad range of city work and to monitor AI usage and enforce city policies, per city documents. The city awarded a total of $390,000 to two technology companies, Carahsoft Technology Corporation and SHI Government Solutions, Inc., to implement the systems and for potential additional costs in the future.
