Public asked to provide input on Downtown East project in Pflugerville

Pflugerville officials will be holding two meetings for public input regarding the next phase of planning for the Downtown East project, which is to include a new city hall building and recreation center located on property northwest of the Pecan Street and FM 685 intersection.

What residents need to know

There will be room for public input on the $204.7 million project during a planning and zoning meeting June 3 at 7 p.m. as well as during a regular Pflugerville City Council meeting June 11 at 7 p.m. Both meetings will be held at the Pflugerville Justice Center, 1611 E. Pfenning Lane.

A planned unit development agreement, with specifics for the property’s build out, is expected to come before City Council for approval this summer.

Construction is slated to begin by December, according to city documents.

According to an update during a City Council work session April 9, the first phase of construction will include:

• Infrastructure extending Main Street from old downtown to the new site
• City hall with an outdoor cafe
• A multigenerational recreation center
• 11,750 total square feet of retail space with 10,500 square feet along the ground floor of the recreation center
• Parking
