What they're saying
"These ratings validate the processes our campus leaders and teams put in place this year: clear goals, consistent progress monitoring, and a relentless focus on closing gaps for every student group," Deputy Superintendent of Schools Dr. Adelaida Olivarez said in news release.
Some context
The accountability rating system was established during the 2017 legislative session to provide insight into how well districts and campuses are educating students.
According to the TEA, ratings are based on measures of student achievement including State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, or STAAR tests; graduation rates; and college, career and military readiness, or CCMR, outcomes. "A," "B" and "C" ratings are considered passing, while "Ds" and "Fs" are failing ratings.
Campuses rated "D" or "F" for two or more consecutive years are required to implement turnaround plans. Only PfISD's Northwest Elementary School has had two consecutive years of failing scores.
