Project: This project includes reconstruction of the remaining segments of Blackhawk Boulevard from Pennystone Way to FM 2351 and from Thursa Lane to FM 528. Improvements include roadway reconstruction, drainage improvements, utility upgrades and pedestrian enhancements, city officials said.
Update: City Council awarded a construction contract for the project May 4. Initial project activities are underway, including submittal review, tree protection measures and other preconstruction work. Major construction activities are expected to begin later this summer.
Project: This project includes traffic signal upgrades along the Sunset Drive corridor to improve traffic operations, enhance safety and increase overall efficiency, officials said. The project also includes converting the Briarmeadow Drive intersection from an all-way stop to a fully signalized intersection.
Update: Design began in May, and environmental clearance has been completed. The city is currently awaiting survey information to support design efforts.
Project: This project includes intersection improvements at FM 518 and FM 528, including the addition of dual left-turn lanes to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion at one of Friendswood's busiest intersections, officials said.
Update: TxDOT is advancing engineering for the project and preparing for a future letting. The improvements are intended to increase intersection capacity and reduce delays for motorists traveling through the corridor.
Project: This project is a partnership between the city of Friendswood and Harris County Precinct 2 to investigate subsurface conditions beneath Bay Area Boulevard, officials said. The effort includes drilling, sampling and testing to better understand the soil conditions contributing to pavement movement and deterioration along the corridor.
Update: City staff and Precinct 2 are currently developing the scope of work and finalizing an interlocal agreement to move the project forward.
Project: This package is being developed under the city's street maintenance program and is focused on streets within and around the Polly Ranch area, officials said. Improvements are anticipated to include base repairs, milling and asphalt overlay to improve pavement conditions and extend roadway life.
Update: The city is currently working with an engineer to develop the project scope and design for the rehabilitation package.
