What you need to know
At a June 1 City Council meeting, Friendswood’s Bond Ad Hoc committee, which consists of 35 citizens across the city, presented a potential $50.9 million bond that could be listed on the November ballot.
The potential bond targets improvements for drainage, parks and recreation, streets and transportation as well as city facilities.
Diving in deeperThe survey allows residents to rate their quality of life in Friendswood, prioritize bond project categories and asks if residents would be willing to pay more in taxes in support of the bond categories, among other questions.
If the bond proposal is approved by council as is and eventually passed by voters in November, the maximum estimated tax rate increase would be $0.01 per $100 valuation.
For a resident with an average existing home value of $514,911, this translates to a tax increase of $41.19 per year, while the average new home would see an increase of about $59.92 per year, according to previous reporting from Community Impact.
