City of Pearland purchases 12 unmarked police vehicles

Pearland Police Department’s fleet just expanded to add 12 new unmarked police cars, including vans, SUVs and trucks.

The details

Pearland City Council voted unanimously at its April 27 meeting to award a bid to purchase 12 unmarked police vehicles from McRee Ford, Big Star Ford and Caldwell Country Chevrolet for $448,000, paid for by the city’s internal service fund.

According to city documents, the purchase includes:

• One Ford Transit Van
• One Ford Escape
• Two Ford F150s
• Two Ford Rangers
• Two Chevy Colorados
• Two Chevy Silverados
• Two Chevy Traverses

Looking ahead

The city will also purchase an additional 30 vehicles this summer, City Manager Trent Epperson said at the meeting.
