PREVIEW: Alvin ISD to review budget projections for FY 2026-27

Alvin ISD’s board of trustees are scheduled to review the district’s fiscal year 2026-27 budget and priorities at its May 4 workshop session.

What you need to know

At its June 2025 meeting, trustees approved a $391.4 million budget for FY 2025-26, with both revenue and expenses balanced, which is a nearly $25 million increase compared to FY 2024-25, according to budget documents.

The rise in revenue was largely attributed to higher state funding tied to increasing student enrollment, as well as boosts in funding for special and early education, and career and technical education, or CTE funding, as previously reported by Community Impact.

The increase in expenses stemmed from various district priorities, including a cost-of-living adjustment, or COLA, for teachers and staff, a higher capital improvement plan, rising property insurance costs and additional staff positions to support rising enrollment, as previously reported by Community Impact.

At its April 14 meeting, district officials reviewed long-term projections showing AISD’s enrollment is expected to increase by nearly 6,800 students, or 22.5%, by 2035-36.
