Ongoing Projects
1. Blackhawk Boulevard reconstruction
The city of Friendswood is 65% finished with construction on the northbound side of Blackhawk Boulevard. The project will include improvements from Friendswood Link Road to Edenvale Street. Improvements include replacement of over 6,000 feet of concrete paving, replacement of curbs and gutters and evaluations of existing utilities. The project timeline has been pushed back, but is scheduled to be completed in the first quarter of 2020, unless there are major weather delays, city staff said.

2. Hughes Ranch Road expansion
Construction on Hughes Ranch Road has been stopped until utility conflicts in the area are addressed, which could be until the end of October or November, depending on the weather. The Hughes Ranch Road project will convert the road from a two- to a four-lane road with a median and curbs from Smith Ranch Road to Cullen Boulevard. Other improvements include an underground storm system, traffic signals, illumination, a sound wall and a mixed-use walking path.

Future Projects
3. Mykawa Road improvements
The city of Pearland is acquiring right of way for the Mykawa Road improvements. The project will convert the two-lane road to a four-lane road; create a 10-foot-wide shared-use path on the west side and a 6-foot-wide path on the east side; and make improvements to drainage, including installations of storm sewers and detention ponds. The project is set to go to bid in August 2021.

4. Broadway Street widening
The Texas Department of Transportation has completed the preliminary design on the Broadway Street widening and is commencing work on the final design. The project will widen Broadway Street from Hwy. 288 to McLean Road, which will consist of widening the road from four to six lanes, constructing an 18-foot raised median and 5-foot-wide sidewalks and converting open ditches into curbs and gutters. While a construction timeline has not been determined, it will take three years to complete the project.
