This project will add a gated entry and security guard building to the lodge, located at 100 Great Wolf Drive, Grapevine.
Amy Lane, assistant general manager for Great Wolf Lodge, said the security guard building would be manned 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
"[This project] really was for the safety and security of our guests as well as our team members, to ensure that we can provide that for our guests," Lane said. "Within the last 12 months, we’ve had 12 vehicles reported stolen out of our property."
The new gated entry will provide controlled access for all vehicles entering or exiting the resort. As part of the resort check-in process, hotel guests and visitors will receive a ticket from a dispenser upon entering the parking lot. When day-pass visitors leave the parking lot, an automatic cashier will accept parking payment as they exit.
"The parking payment is all under consideration right now, because we don’t want to deter local guests from coming in and enjoying our amenities—we want to make sure we’re encouraging that as well," Lane said. "That’s where it’s still under consideration, to determine what that payment would actually be."
She said the security team would also disable the gated access as needed to ensure traffic does not pile up onto Northwest Highway.
Grapevine City Council approved the request for the added security measures unanimously.
