Riders of Georgetown’s GoGeo buses can now use a mobile app called Hopthru to buy bus passes and use the app to present passes to drivers while boarding, according to a Jan. 10 city announcement. The Hopthru app can be downloaded on riders’ smartphones through online app stores or by texting “hopthru” to 43506, according to the city. Purchased passes can be activated by riders using the app at any time. The GoGeo transit system offers four fixed bus routes and paratransit service in Georgetown. One-way GeGeo fares are $1, and day passes cost $2. Reduced day passes are available for $1 to riders who are 65 and older or riders with disabilities. The reduced-cost passes are also available to children 12 years of age or younger with a valid student ID as well as veterans and active military service members. Children 12 years or younger can also ride for free if accompanied by a rider who has paid the full fare.
