Southlake City Council unanimously approved Dec. 4 three contracts providing for construction and engineering work for SH 114 frontage roads, the FM 1938 and Continental Boulevard intersection, and the Peytonville Avenue and Continental intersection.

SH 114 frontage roads

City Council approved a $3 million local project advance funding agreement with Texas Department of Transportation for the construction of eastbound and westbound frontage roads along SH 114 between Dove Road and Kirkwood Boulevard. The project will improve mobility as development grows in the surrounding area, according to the meeting agenda packet. Funding for this agreement was allocated as part of the current and previous year capital improvement program budgets.

FM 1938 and Continental Boulevard

Southlake also approved a contract for up to $335,000 with engineering firm Kimley-Horn for design and construction services to improve the intersection at FM 1938 and Continental. Kimley-Horn is charged with surveying the land, gathering data, designing construction plans and overseeing subsequent construction work, according to the agenda packet. The scope of services include designing improvements for street lanes, traffic signals, sidewalk and crosswalk at the intersection and associated storm drain system. Funding for this is included in the fiscal year 2017-18 capital improvement program budget.

Peytonville Avenue and Continental Boulevard

City Council also approved another contract with Kimley-Horn to construct a roundabout at the Peytonville and Continental intersection for up to $212,000. Funding for this project is included in the fiscal year 2017-18 capital improvement program budget, according to the agenda packet.
