Voters will not choose the next president until 2020, but midterm elections this November still feature a variety of national, state and local races, the results of which have major implications for Harris County, the state of Texas and the United States.
Statewide, voters will choose candidates running for Texas governor and U.S. Senate, among other positions. In Cy-Fair, voters will choose who will represent them in Congress. In addition to setting budgets each year, Congress has the power to pass laws that can have national implications.
Voters will also choose candidates for Texas Senate and the state House of Representatives. Those who are elected will participate in the 2019 legislative session and could play a role in education reform, flood mitigation and crafting the state budget for the next two years.
