The city of New Braunfels hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the completion of its Downtown Sidewalks Improvements Project. The event took place Sept. 27 in front of the Brauntex Performing Arts Theatre at 290 W. San Antonio St.

The project, which broke ground in 2017, creates a continuous accessible path that is compliant with the American Disabilities Act. Brick pavers, lighting and pedestrian signals at the intersections of Castell Avenue and Academy Avenue at San Antonio Street are also part of the completed project.

The project, which was approximated to cost $2.68 million, was funded by the city and the New Braunfels Economic Development Corporation. However, final expenses have not yet been tallied.
