Bestselling novelist
Kevin Kwan will be the featured speaker of the 2018 Signatures Author Series, The John Cooper School Fine Arts Council announced June 18.
Kwan is known for his critically acclaimed debut novel, “Crazy Rich Asians,” which became an international bestseller as well as a major motion picture to be released Aug. 17. The trilogy was completed in May, with the release of “Rich People Problems” following the second book in the series, “China Rich Girlfriend.”
Kwan was also named to
Time Magazine’s annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2018.
“We are very excited about welcoming such a highly-acclaimed international author to The Woodlands for our 2018 series,” Signatures Author Series co-chairperson Susan DeMarco said in a statement. “We look forward to hearing his entertaining look at generational and cultural differences.”
The 14th annual event will be held Nov. 30 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention Center, located at 1601 Lake Robbins Drive, The Woodlands. The luncheon features local authors, book signings and a VIP book signing with the author for major table sponsors.
A portion of the event’s proceeds will be donated to a local nonprofit literary organization. In May, $2,500 from the 2017 luncheon, featuring novelist Paula Hawkins, was donated to the Montgomery County Memorial Library System and Barbara Bush Library for Hurricane Harvey recovery efforts.
Reservations will go on sale July 1 online at
www.johncooper.org. Sponsorships are available at $2,000, $3,000, $5,000 and $10,000 levels and individual reservations can be made for $150 each.
