A funeral procession is planned to transport fallen Round Rock Police Department Officer Charles Whites from a funeral home to a church and back to the funeral home the morning of May 2. At 8 a.m., the procession will escort Whites from Beck Funeral Home, located at 15709 RM 620, Austin, to Shoreline Church, located at 15201 Burnet Road, Austin, for a celebration of life service at 10 a.m. Afterward, the procession will escort Whites back to the funeral home. The procession is expected to begin between 11:30 a.m. and noon and last an hour. Traffic delays should be anticipated. The Round Rock Police Department lobby and administrative offices will be closed Wednesday to allow RRPD personnel to attend the service. The Williamson County Sheriff's Office and DPS will assist with service calls and collisions. Whites died April 27 at Hospice Austin Christopher House due to injuries from being struck by a vehicle Feb. 25 while assisting with an auto-pedestrian accident on I-35 in Round Rock. “We are devastated by the passing of Officer Charles Whites.” said Police Chief Allen Banks in a press release. “Our heart breaks for Connie and all of Charles’ family. Charles was a great officer and an even better person. The past two months have shown how strong and close-knit we are as a department. The support we’ve received from the Round Rock community, surrounding communities and regional first responders has been inspiring. We will continue to lean on this strength and support as we remember Charles and honor his many years of public service.”
