Cedar Park City Council approved a handful of changes to the current budget year during an April 12 meeting, which also included more funding for the Bell Boulevard redevelopment project.

While the city opted for its Community Development Corporation, or Type B Board, not to spend $885,273 in planned community and development projects for fiscal year 2017-18, it also allocated an additional $3.3 million for Bell. The adjustments raised the 4B Board’s budget for the current fiscal year by $2.4 million.

According to the city, the total funding from the 4B Board on the redevelopment portion is now $17.3 million—$10 million was allocated for the project in from FY 2016-17 and $7.3 million has now been allocated during FY 2017-18.

A city spokesperson said the city chose to allocate additional funding for the Bell project now because of an opportunity to purchase land for the project.
