As The Woodlands Township kicks off its study on incorporating into a city, township board members and consultants have said a key part of the study will be resident feedback and participation, as residents will ultimately make the decision to incorporate if the measure is placed on a ballot.

In an informal and unofficial poll conducted by Community Impact Newspaper over a three-day period using the neighborhood-based social media site Nextdoor, we asked residents, "If an election were held tomorrow to incorporate, how would you vote?"

From a sample size of 316 residents and 11 ZIP codes from boundaries determined by Nextdoor, a total of 188 residents, nearly 60 percent, said they would vote in favor.

While the majority of residents voted "yes," only a percentage of residents in the sample size would be eligible to vote in any potential election on whether the community should incorporate.

However, in ZIP codes within the boundaries of The Woodlands, like 77381, voters were nearly split on whether they would vote on incorporation, with 55 percent voting in favor and 45 voting against.

Voter response from ZIP codes 77380, 77381, 77832, 77384 and 77389 were the highest.
