Updated 3:52 p.m. March 26 The Texas Department of Transportation announced the rescheduled northbound I-35 closure planned for March 26-27 has been cancelled for tonight because of rain in the forecast. Updated 9:17 a.m. March 26 The Texas Department of Transportation has rescheduled the planned overnight I-35 closures to March 26-27 to allow crews to remove overhead sign bridges. The closures will take place in two phases on the northbound side from 51st Street to US 183. Traffic on northbound I-35 will be reduced to one lane at 9 p.m. from Hwy. 290 to US 183. A rolling closure will start at 11 p.m. on the northbound main lanes from 51st Street to US 183. On March 27, the northbound I-35 lanes will be reduced starting at 10 p.m. between Hwy. 290 and US 183. Starting at midnight, the rolling closure will occur between 51st and US 183. The northbound I-35 to northbound US 183 flyover and the northbound I-35 entrance ramp to Hwy. 290 East will be closed at this time. As work is completed, crews will reopen main lanes and ramps in this section. Updated 1:22 p.m. March 20 The Texas Department of Transportation announced Tuesday afternoon the planned closure of northbound I-35 between 51st Street and US 183 has been cancelled. The closure will be rescheduled to a later date. Original post The Texas Department of Transportation is planning to temporarily close I-35 between Rundberg Lane and 51st Street overnight March 19 and 20. Weather permitting, the closures will take place from 11 p.m.-5 a.m. both nights so crews can remove two overhead bridge signs. On March 19, the closures will start at 11 p.m. with a reduction of southbound I-35 to two lanes between Rundberg and Hwy. 290. At 1 a.m. a rolling closure will occur on the southbound I-35 mainlanes and ramps. On March 20, the closures will start at 11 p.m. with a reduction of northbound I-35 to two lanes between 51st and US 183. At 1 a.m. a rolling closure will occur on the northbound I-35 mainlanes and ramps. The removal of the signs is part of a major I-35 project underway between Rundberg and Hwy. 290 to add three flyovers between I-35 and US 183 as well as to rebuild the St. Johns Avenue bridge and add U-turns.
