The National Weather Service is forecasting mostly sunny skies and highs in the 70s throughout the weekend, which gives area residents a much-needed break from the recent rainy weather. Whether the family wants to see a circus, go to a community fish fry or catch a movie, there are plenty to get out to enjoy this weekend. Here are seven Katy area events to get readers into the sunshine:

1. Cirque Italia at Katy Mills

Cirque Italia’s show near Katy Mills features Venetian aerialists, acrobatics and more. Tickets go on sale Feb. 27. 7:30 p.m. (all days), 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. (Saturday-Sunday). $20-$40 (child), $10-$35 (adult). Katy Mills, 5000 Katy Mills Circle, Katy.

2. Knights of Columbus Fish Fry

3. "Despicable Me 3" on the Elyson Event Lawn

Elyson by Newland Communities hosts this free community event that is open to the public. Lawn chairs and blankets are encouraged, as are 80s costumes for a costume contest. 4. Project Prom Spring Craft Show & Festival

This event supports Project Prom, an event for Morton Ranch High School students that is drug- and alcohol-free to increase safety. 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Free. Morton Ranch High School, 21000 Franz Road, Katy.

5. International Leadership of Texas job fair

ILTexas will be holding interviews for educators and administrators to fill openings for their 2018-19 school year. Applicants are encouraged to register for appointments in advance, however walk-ins are welcome. 9-1 p.m. Free. 24406 Franz Rd. Katy.


6. Catch the ‘music Music MUSIC!’ concert by LSSB
