Richmond’s milling and overlay project continues Monday with closures set to occur along North 10th and Preston streets, and the Fort Bend County Toll Road Authority will provide updates on several countywide projects this week. City’s asphalt milling and overlay construction continues The asphalt milling and overlay project that began Jan. 23 will continue onto North 10th and Preston streets and will follow the schedule of north side streets Monday, Jan. 29, according the city of Richmond. Road closures will take place at North 10th Street at Morton and Powell streets for most of the day Monday. The project was awarded to James Construction at the Nov. 13 City Commission meeting and involves removing the top surface of a street and replacing it with 2 inches of new asphalt. Residents are advised to limit travel in the project areas as they will have limited access to the streets during the work hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce to host update with FBCTRA The Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce will host the Fort Bend County Toll Road Authority’s Mike Stone for an update on the Westpark Toll Road extension project, Grand Parkway Brazos River bridge erosion and Fort Bend Parkway extension project. The meeting is set for 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at the chamber’s office in Sugar Land. $25 for members, $35 for nonmembers. www.fortbendchamber.com ICYMI: News items from last week LCISD approves audit Lamar CISD’s board of trustees approved the 2016-17 school year audit at the Jan. 23 meeting. County commissioners set public hearing Fort Bend County Commissioners approved an order to hold a public hearing for residents with applications for infrastructure and housing through the Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery program from the 2016 flooding events at the Jan. 23 meeting. H-E-B Director for Public Affairs Cyndy Garza presented LCISD’s Common Threads program, which helps clothe students in need, a check for $5,000 at the Jan. 23 unveiling.
