2018 elections include area races from city council to Congress

What we reported


Several local offices are up for re-election, including three Katy City Council positions, two Katy ISD trustee positions and the Harris and Fort Bend County judges’ seats.

Durran Dowdle, Katy mayor pro tem and council member for Ward B, is up for re-election, as is Ward A Council Member Ray Boothe. Steve Pierson, who holds the at-large council seat, will not seek re-election due to reaching his six-year term limit.

Meanwhile Fort Bend County and Harris County judge positions are up for re-election as well as several state and Congressional lawmakers.

Boothe and Dowdle said they intend to run for another term. KISD trustees Charles Griffin and Bryan Michalsky will not seek reelection this year.

Incumbent Ed Emmett, a Republican, faces Democrat Lina Hidalgo for the Harris County judge’s office. In Fort Bend County, Republican incumbent Robert Hebert is running for re-election against Fort Bend ISD trustee KP George, a Democrat.

What’s next


Candidates for local elections can file until Feb. 16 for a spot on the ballot, according to the Texas Secretary of State’s Office.
