East View High School presents ‘A Jolly Holiday’

Observatory offers free viewing night to public
The Fountainwood Observatory at Southwestern University holds monthly viewing nights for the public. The observatory is located near the Rockwell Baseball Field. 8-10:30 p.m. Free. Southwestern University, 1001 E. University Ave. 512-863-6511

Tour custom homes in Georgetown's Old Town District
J. Bryant Boyd Design Build celebrates its 25th anniversary with a custom home tour in the historic Old Town District. Tickets are available at the company’s office at 902 Forest St. 10 a.m-4 p.m. $20 (until Dec. 8), $25 (Dec. 9). 512-930-1686

Annual Trout Fishing Derby
For the Trout Fishing Derby the city will stock the river in San Gabriel Park with 1,250 rainbow trout for the whole family to try their hand at catching. A fishing permit is required for participants age 17 and older, and they must be purchased in advance, as they will not be available at the park. Registration begins at 7 a.m., and the fishing is expected to last until 10:30 a.m. Free (spectators), $3 (to participate in derby). San Gabriel Park, 445 E. Morrow St.

Holiday Celebration at Wolf Ranch Town Center
Visit Wolf Ranch for photos with Santa Claus, horse-drawn carriage rides, cookie decorating, games and crafts for kids as well as an adults-only ugly Christmas sweater contest. 4-6 p.m. Free. Wolf Ranch Town Center, 1015 W. University Ave., Ste. 601. See the Facebook event page here.
