Fort Bend County Commissioners canvassed votes for the Nov. 7 election during a regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday at the historic courthouse in downtown Richmond.
Voters
supported the $218 million mobility bond with 70 percent of voters in favor of the referendum.
“Unfortunately, we didn’t have as high a voting turnout as we would have really liked, but we do appreciate the people who took their time to go out and vote,” Precinct 3 Commissioner Andy Meyers said.
Fort Bend County saw a 6.8 percent voter turnout. According to election results, 18,919 residents were in favor of the bond, while roughly 30 percent, or 8,174 residents, were opposed to adopting the bond.
The bond will be used to fund 63 projects across Fort Bend County’s four precincts. The total cost of the projects is set at $388 million, of which the county will cover 56.2 percent of, according to county documents.
