A new "M" will greet people as they enter the Manor Road Business District. The city of Austin announced an M-shaped gateway installation will be unveiled Monday at the corner of Manor Road and East Dean Keeton Street. Bicycle owners can park their bikes by the installation, which features solar-powered safety lights for night-time use. "We're eager to see how this gateway installation can bring more attention to Manor Road as a district with lots to offer residents and visitors alike. We want folks to feel like they're arriving somewhere unique and valued, rather than simply passing through. We're hopeful, too, that the additional bike parking the installation incorporates will encourage people to pursue alternative ways to come and enjoy the many businesses in the district," said Josh Blaine, Manor Road Merchants Association president, in a news release. The unveiling coincides with the district's Manor Monday activities, which are free and occur every month. According to the release, the gateway installation represents a celebration of the district as a bike- and pedestrian-friendly destination with proximity to the Mueller development, The University of Texas at Austin and downtown.
