With a new week comes a slew of city and school board meetings and news from Amazon's HQ2 search. Here's what you should know this week in Round Rock, Pflugerville and Hutto:
1. On Thursday, Pflugerville ISD will hold its regularly scheduled board of trustees meeting to approve district and campus innovation plans. Trustees will also discuss the agreement between the Travis County Juvenile Board and PfISD for the operation of the Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program. The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Administration Building.
2. Round Rock ISD will host its regular monthly board of trustees meeting Thursday. The meeting will begin with a 1 1/2 hour closed session to discuss personnel matters and the Public Information Act process. Afterward, the district will review its construction report, hear a district goals survey report from vertical learning communities and discuss campus and district improvement plans. The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday in Round Rock High School's lecture hall.
3. Last week, Moody's Analytics announced via a data report that the
Austin-Round Rock MSA was leading the list of contenders for Amazon's HQ2. More than 50 cities have submitted bids for the facility that is projected to bring 50,000 jobs to its new home. Each metropolitan statistical area (MSA) is limited to one bid. Round Rock submitted
three potential locations as part of the Austin-Round Rock MSA bid.
4. At last Thursday's City Council meeting, Round Rock council members
approved a year-in-the-making Master Transportation Plan. The plan, put together by engineering firm HDR, is the result of a yearlong feedback process that involved an online survey and multiple open houses. The firm identified more than $1.1 billion of proposed improvements to Round Rock's transportation network.
