Frisco City Council to make more appointments, adopt ordinance for The Tower at The Rail

Frisco City Council is expected to make more appointments for city boards and commissions during the Oct. 3 council meeting. Council will appoint members to the convention and visitors bureau board and the Denton Central Appraisal District. Council will also consider and act upon an ordinance to rezone 1 acre of land on the southwest corner of Seventh and Elm streets to allow for townhomes for the new development called The Tower at The Rail. Registration now open for the Gary Burns Annual Fun Run

Registration for the 18th annual Frisco Education Foundation Gary Burns Fun Run is now open. The fun run is held Oct. 28 at Toyota Stadium, 9200 World Cup Way, Frisco. The event will feature food, entertainment and other family-friendly activities, including an appearance by the city of Frisco Fire Clowns. Proceeds from the event benefit scholarship opportunities for Frisco ISD students. To register, click here.

Frisco Indian Lions Club collecting for Frisco Family

Services food pantry

The Frisco Indian Lions Club is hosting a food drive until Oct. 10 to help stock the food pantry for Frisco Family Services. The food pantry allows families in need to “shop” for free for necessary food items. Items needed include: • sugar; • flour (4- to 5-pound bags); • boxed meal helpers (Hamburger or Tuna Helpers, etc.); • boxed potatoes; • pasta; • condiments (ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, etc.); • Jell-O or similar items; • cooking oil; • cake, muffin and other baking mixes; • juice boxes; • snack items; and • oatmeal.
