Georgetown ISD officials announced Monday that the district’s enrollment has topped 11,500 students and will continue to expand.

Bryan Hallmark, the district's assistant superintendent of operations and school leadership, said Monday during a presentation to GISD's board of trustees that, as of two weeks ago, the district's enrollment had surpassed the 11,500-student mark, and district officials could expect an increase of 2,400 additional students over the next five years.

Most of the growth has been in the East View High School feeder pattern in southeast Georgetown. That part of the city is expected to continue to grow exponentially in the next few years.

During his presentation, Hallmark said that the 2021-22 enrollment projection is 13,872 students. In the 2026-27 school year, enrollment could reach 16,900 students, he said.

GISD has prepared for the growth with bond-financed projects, such as new schools.
