Hurricane Harvey hit Houston on Aug. 26 and left the city flooded and in need of help. Many North Texas cities sent support to Houston and surrounding areas. The city of Frisco sent several firefighters and at least one ambulance bus to the area to help with relief and rescue efforts.
Residents looking to lend a hand are encouraged to volunteer with the Mass Care Task Force, a collaboration of four North Texas nonprofits working to assist evacuees at shelters in Dallas. There are also opportunities to donate supplies, although some organizations are urging monetary donations because it allows them to buy items as individual needs arise.
Community Impact Newspaper’s Houston teams are working hard to keep residents safe and updated. The latest Hurricane Harvey coverage can be found at communityimpact.com/topics/hurricane-harvey.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to those affected by Hurricane Harvey.
