1. Astronomical Society members on hand at library

Fort Worth Astronomical Society member Patrick McMahon will visit the Grapevine Public Library to help patrons prepare for Monday’s solar eclipse as they learn about celestial safety.

2. Children receive souvenirs with train passage
Guests can explore the Grapevine Vintage Railroad in a one-hour excursion that takes passengers along the historic Cotton Belt Route traveling from Grapevine to the Fort Worth Stockyards. With school starting soon, children will receive a back-to-school gift at the end of the ride.

3. Storytime to introduce police officer to children
The library will feature a themed story time to take children through the responsibilities of a police officer. The library will have a police vehicle and an officer on scene for children to interact with and meet. Crafts will also be available.

4. Animal services offer low-cost vaccine clinic

Grapevine Animal Services will have low-cost vaccines for pets on Aug. 19.[/caption]

Grapevine Animal Services will host a low-cost animal vaccine clinic Saturday, Aug. 19, with services from rabies shots to flea prevention. Officials request cats to be crated and dogs to be leashed. Only cash or debit payments will be accepted.

5. Snake seminars and more offered at Repticon

The Grapevine Repticon convention will host discussion and show and tell events in which guest can learn more about reptiles and other exotic pets. Guests can learn more about reptiles and amphibians and discover where to purchase exotic pets from knowledgeable sources. Every hour will feature informative and interactive experiences with the animals.
