Great Hills ENT will move to the Twelve Oaks Professional Center near Seton Northwest Hospital on Aug. 1, according to a news release.

The office was originally located at 11762 Jollyville Road, Austin.

The practice said the move was motivated by the citywide growth spurt—particularly the booming senior citizen population, which is expected to rise to over a half-million residents by the year 2040, according to the city of Austin’s Commission on Seniors.

Great Hills ENT takes a particular interest in the senior population because the practice specializes in audiology and gait and balance physical therapy.

In addition to hearing loss, seniors face dizziness and gait difficulty—a “serious and under-recognized problem”—that can cause dangerous falls leading to a lack of mobility and loss of independence. Falls are the leading cause of injury-related deaths for people 65 years and older, according to the National Safety Council.

The practice said it developed its Hearing and Balance Center in 2016 to address these problems head-on through vestibular testing, which looks at a person’s balance and dizziness. The center’s FYZICAL therapy program provides treatments that retrain the brain and body to improve balance and eliminate dizziness.

The new facility will advance efforts to address the senior population’s health problems through new state-of-the-art sound booths and diagnostic equipment for hearing and balance testing, according to ear, nose and throat physician Mark Brown.

The new office will also have a dedicated area for in-house physical therapy services designed to help with fall prevention techniques and balance improvement.

“We are excited to welcome all of our existing patients into our expanded office space, and look forward to working with new ones who need access to our specialized care,” Dr. Brown said.

In addition to these changes, Great Hills ENT will continue to provide ENT care for pediatric and adult patients, according to the news release. That includes treatment for sinus diseases and nasal congestion, thyroid and neck masses, snoring and sleep apnea, tonsillitis, hoarseness, ear infections, and throat and swallowing problems.

The new office’s address will be 11645 Angus Road, Ste. B8, Austin.
