The cities of Colleyville and Southlake are among the safest cities in the state, according to the fourth annual Safest Cities in Texas report released in early June by SafeWise, a home security company. The report ranked Colleyville the second-safest city in the state and Southlake the 25th-safest.

SafeWise reviewed the most recent FBI crime statistics from 2015 along with population data to compile its rankings, which listed 50 Texas cities.

Nearby city Trophy Club was ranked as the safest city of 2017, according to the report. Other cities in the top 50 included Little Elm at fourth, Flower Mound at seventh and Keller at eighth. Grapevine was ranked 72nd.

This is not the first time that Colleyville and Southlake were included on the list. Last year the report ranked Colleyville No. 1 and Southlake No. 27.

Cities included in the report were ranked based on the number of reported violent crimes—aggravated assault, murder, rape and robbery—and property crimes—burglary, arson, larceny-theft and motor vehicle theft—in each city, according to SafeWise. The report also calculated the likely ratio of crimes occurring per 1,000 residents in each city.

Cities with fewer than 10,000 residents and cities that did not submit complete crime statistics to the FBI were not included in the report, according to SafeWise.
