In May, the city of Austin revealed a new interactive sidewalk project map that shows the location and status of projects starting construction in the next three months.

In Northwest Austin, sidewalks are being added by June on the south side of (5a) Hyridge Drive from Mesa Drive to Honeysuckle Trail. By June both sides of (5b) North Lamar Boulevard from US 183 to Braker Lane will receive new sidewalks as well as rehabilitation of existing sidewalks.

Sidewalks project receive funding from a variety of sources, including the Quarter Cent Fund, 2016 Mobility Bond Program and grants, according to the city.

Here are seven other transportation projects happening in Northwest Austin:

1. Resurfacing Parmer Lane
The Texas Department of Transportation will resurface Parmer Lane from MoPac to the I-35 southbound frontage road.
Timeline: summer 2017

2. Phase 2 of Northern Walnut Creek Trail
The city aims to complete design in early 2018 on the extended trail to I-35. Construction is estimated to cost between $3.5 million and $4 million.

3. I-35 frontage roads repaving
TxDOT will resurface the I-35 frontage roads from SH 45 N to Rundberg Lane.

4. US 183 North toll lanes
The US 183 North project will add four tolled lanes and a fourth nontolled lane between MoPac and RM 620 as well as direct connectors between US 183 and the MoPac express toll lanes under construction. The $650 million cost includes direct connectors between US 183 and RM 620, which will not be built until a later date. On April 26, the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority announced its intention to develop and build the project and plans to hire a contractor in 2018.

6. Street maintenance
The city of Austin is continuing maintenance on several streets in Northwest Austin. Residents in affected areas will be notified 30 days before work begins.

7. MoPac toll lanes
Major structural construction will wrap up in June on the MoPac express toll lanes between Parmer Lane and Cesar Chavez Street. In the coming weeks crews will be laying down the final layer of pavement.

8. Construction on Mesa Drive
Improvements to the Spicewood Springs Pump Station are affecting traffic on Mesa Drive near Spicewood Springs Road where crews are installing a new water line. The city finished pavement work in May.
