When Elizabeth Anderson, who has served as principal of Hutto Middle School since 2012, retires at the end of the 2016-17 school year, her assistant principal, Jason McAuliffe will replace her.
McAuliffe has served in the number two role for the past three years and has taught fifth-grade technology, seventh-grade special education and seventh-grade math enrichment prior to that. He has also coached football, basketball and track teams.
McAuliffe is an alumnus of Sam Houston State University and has a Master of Education in Educational Administration from Lamar University.
"It is an honor and privilege to serve as the Principal of Hutto Middle School," he said in a statement. "I am looking forward to working together to ensure that Hutto Middle School continues to reach new heights."
