Blood Brothers Closing Weekend
The San Marcos Spotlight Theatre will end their six-week run of Blood Brothers this weekend. A dramatic rock musical, it opened in London’s West end in 1983 and went on to won Olivier Awards for Best New Musical and Best Actress, as well as be nominated for a TONY six times. $15 (general admission); $10 (students and seniors). Cinco De Mayo 5k & Kidz Run
This 5K follows a course within the Willow Creek subdivision that climbs about 90 feet to a turnaround point and then descends that same 90 feet back to the finish line. The Kidz 1K Run is follows the first 1/2 kilometer of the 5K course. $25 (race day registration); Free (Kidz Run, children 12 and under). 50th Anniversary Parade
Hays CISD will celebrate its semi-centennial with a parade stretching from Live Oak Academy and Bob Shelton Stadium. Fit Family Fun Day
The Central Texas Medical Center is hosting a family-friendly event to promote health education and healthy lifestyles. Entertainment available includes a fitness challenge, inflatable obstacle course, a petting zoo, a photo booth, giveaways and door prizes. Participants in the 1-mile walk, scavenger hunt or the fitness challenge are entered into a raffle for a chance to win one of four bicycles. 3rd Annual Hixen Studio and Friends Spring Art Show
Attendees have the opportunity join a group of artists for a day of browsing art and drinking wine on a llama farm. The event organizers said this is a rain-or-shine event because there is plenty of indoor space. Work of over a dozen artists will be on display, as well as a masseuse on site.
