For the past 10 years the city of Colleyville has been using Waste Connections, formerly known as Progressive Waste Solutions, as its provider for solid waste disposal and recycling.
However, City Council passed a resolution at its April 4 meeting directing city staff to enter contract negotiations with a new provider, Community Waste Disposal.
Mayor Richard Newton said the contract with CWD, which would be for five years, would begin Nov. 1.
“They provided us good service,” he said. However, when you look at the numbers, the service that would be provided by Progressive can be provided by CWD for less money.”
For residential customers, Waste Connections would charge $16.49 a month for basic services, and CWD would charge $12.63 a month.
A formal contract will be brought forward for City Council consideration at a future council meeting.
