Georgetown ISD 100th anniversary

Georgetown ISD invited residents to learn about the school district’s 100-year history at an event on the Square on Feb. 27. The district was founded on that date in 1917.

The event was attended by school board members; Southwestern University President Edward Burger; and state Rep. Terry Wilson, R-Marble Falls­­, who gave GISD Superintendent Fred Brent a proclamation to recognize the district’s birthday.

Georgetown Swirl

The eighth annual Georgetown Swirl was held March 4. The event featured shopping, wine and local food on the Square.

Boys and Girls Club of Georgetown banquet

Aelissa Vasquez was named the 2016 Senior Youth of the Year at the Boys and Girls Club of Georgetown’s annual fundraiser held March 2 at the Georgetown Community Center. Vasquez, a student at East View High School, served as master of ceremonies and spoke about an alcoholic and abusive father.
