Ask the editor: Will Bellaire Boulevard be extended between Harlem Road and FM 1464?

WadeKerrAs areas begin to grow and develop with new homes and business, the infrastructure must grow with it.  Although Fort Bend County has many ongoing projects, the county is not able to develop all of the roadways in the county. Often times developers contribute to those improvements.

There is a large undeveloped tract of land between FM 1464 and Harlem Road along the Bellaire Boulevard alignment. Developers are responsible for building roads in their Master-planned communities.

Development has started near Beechnut, at the south end of the undeveloped tract, and is likely to progress north in the upcoming years.

The owner of the land was not available for comment, but once development reaches Bellaire Boulevard, the developer may construct the missing segment. County officials said if construction of the missing segments are not completed in a timely manner, the county may choose to include the segment on a future mobility bond program.
