The local governments and schools will be conducting business in Sugar Land and Missouri City this week. See what's on the agenda from Monday to Thursday.

Monday


Missouri City City Council
The council will have regular and special agenda meetings Monday starting at 7 p.m. and 6 p.m., respectively. City Manager Anthony Snipes said he will announce his candidate for the public works director position, a position the city has been looking to fill for nearly a year.

The public works director is responsible for overseeing the city’s water, sewer and wastewater treatment services. The department also maintains geographic information system applications, sidewalks, traffic control devices and provides animal control services, among other responsibilities.

Sugar Land City Council
During their regular meeting Tuesday, the council will discuss the future Sugar Land Heritage Foundation museum at the Imperial Market development. The council will consider an agreement for the museum to be constructed on the second floor of the Container Warehouse building at Imperial, and for $75,000 in hotel occupancy tax funds to be allocated for it.

The museum will be connected to a city visitors center.

Fort Bend ISD District of Innovation committee
FBISD's district of innovation committee will meet Tuesday from 7-8 p.m. at the Administration Annex building, located at 3119 Sweetwater Blvd., Sugar Land. The committee created the plan that specifies which state rules FBISD would be exempt from, should the plan be approved by FBISD Board of Trustees.

Thursday


Sugar Land Planning and Zoning Commission
The commission will meet Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. The agenda includes a workshop on the proposed rezoning of 15.2 acres in the Imperial housing development to build single-family homes. The applicant wishes to rezone the land from planned development district general development to planned development district final development, according to city documents.

The site is located along Imperial Boulevard at the intersection of Silent Manor Drive, and adjacent to the Imperial Lofts.
