At the Feb. 7 Colleyville City Council meeting, council members heard the first reading of amendments to Destination Colleyville, which is the name of the city’s comprehensive plan adopted in December 2015.

Upon getting elected in May 2016, Mayor Richard Newton advised city staff to review certain areas of the plan and recommend amendments.

City staff presented a total of 80 amendments to 38 pages of the document.

Some of the proposed amendments included changing gross density to net density, which affects how the city’s future population is calculated, and adding language to protect the character of existing neighborhoods.

The second reading is expected to happen at the Feb. 21 meeting.
