Filing open for Frisco City Council, Frisco ISD school board

Filing is now open for positions on Frisco City Council and the Frisco ISD board of trustees. Open positions on City Council include the Frisco mayor as well as the Place 5 and Place 6 seats. Places 4 and 5 are also open on the school board. Elections for all open positions take place May 6. Those interested in filing for open seats can visit the city's website or the district's website.

Frisco Planning and Zoning Commission meets Tuesday

Frisco Planning and Zoning Commission will meet Tuesday to discuss adding more industrial land in North Frisco and a specific use permit for a full-service restaurant bar at The Star in Frisco. A proposed amendment to the Future Land Use Plan and a rezoning request would add more than 400 acres of industrial-zoned land south of Rockhill Parkway and west of Preston Road. The land is just south of the Frisco Park 25, a planned 216-acre industrial park at the northwest corner of Rockhill Parkway and Preston Road. Concrete Cowboy is applying for a SUP for an alcoholic beverage establishment at The Star. The restaurant is one of 14 new retailers announced at The Star in December. Frisco Chamber of Commerce hosts candidate forum

The Frisco Chamber of Commerce will host a candidate forum at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Church, 8440 Grace St. Candidates for the Place 1 seat on Frisco City Council will attend the forum. A special election to fill the Place 1 seat will take place Feb. 18. The event is free and open to the public.
