Big decisions made in 2016
- $249 million bond passes
In May voters passed a $249 million bond package that included rebuilding Cannon Elementary School, two multipurpose activity centers and renovations to several schools.
- Renovations for Mustang-Panther Stadium announced
In October, GCISD announced its stadium would undergo an $18 million renovation to be complete in 2018. Renovations include new home-side restrooms and concession stands as well as scoreboard upgrades.
Top issues for 2017
- Construction of bond projects
Renovations and additions to three schools will be underway this year as well as the renovation of Mustang-Panther Stadium.
- 1:1 technology to expand
Every student in the district, from kindergarten to 12th grade, will be assigned a technology device.
- Changes to school finance
As a Robin Hood district, GCISD officials hope changes will decrease recapture.
